Seconds after the accident, Jasmin was thrown onto a subterranean patch of gravel, drenched... Shivering uncontrollably, she took the crash helmet off, cold water pouring down her face.
"I c-can’t t-take any m-more of this, Eulosi."
There was no reply. Eulosi had disappeared...
"E-Eulosi? W-Where are y-you?" Jasmin couldn’t see a thing because it was pitch black underground. "Eulosi?"
Roaring fires burst into flame across the cavern, illuminating a huge underground space with three tunnels leading out. Jasmin turned, gasping in fear. A hoofman on stilts approached in the fiery light with an antler weapon in his right hand, pointing his left forefinger, rocking his head side to side. Jasmin grabbed her rucksack, screaming. His deer-mask fell to the floor.
"Why do you scream? And where is Eulosi?" asked Godwit, removing the stilts and angrily discarding his stolen outfit.
"Eh?" she said. "Why were you dressed up like a—"
"Where is Eulosi!?" demanded Godwit. "Hoofmen are pursuing me on galloping hawksteeds through the 3rd tunnel! They will be on us in minutes, Jasmin. Where is she!?"
"No idea," she pleaded. "We got stuck in Aira Force, then—"
Godwit cut her off. "You still have the 2nd Parchment?"
"Yes. Here in my ruck—"
