Qaid and Qallum surveyed the debris with their night-vision binoculars, focusing on the opposite shore.
    “Are they dead?” asked Qaid.
    “All our slinkfish, yes,” replied Qallum. “Yet, what is inside Storrs Temple? I thought I saw—”
    “I see it,” said Qaid. “She will pay for this!”
    —Eulosi whispered a Khoisanφ instruction to Stagrayler, sent him on his way and bypassed a speedboat’s ignition at the Lakeshore Boathouse before starting its powerful engine. Joshua and Jasmin were shivering with cold when Eulosi returned to their octagonal sanctuary. 
    “Climb inside,” she said. “We are leaving.”
    Qaid and Qallum studied their route across Windermere then sped off in pursuit.
    “Where we going, Eulosi?” asked Joshua. 
    “Lakeside Station.” She gave Jasmin the turquoise oilskin pannier and stared ominously into her eyes.... “Do not let this
